Funeral rites

Hi all, I am a working funeral director in California. I am working on a project to create a funeral rite for us Gnomeans. I am taking a little bit from some recognizable religions, but also looking at the writings of David Attenborough, Sir Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and Douglas Adams for inspiration. I am a naturalist and am looking at the greenest disposition options available. Please forward any constructive ideas that you might have and I'll see what fits together well. By no means will this be an "Official" Gnomean ritual, however if the final product holds merit for everyone I'd love to implement it and circulate it to other ministers and funeral directors.

So I lost my cat last month and as he was ordained I would light a lantern for him every night for the first week of the loss or whenever it feels right or is needed. It gave me some literal light in my darkest moments and it helped to do something deliberate and take time to remember him.
