My Gnomean Faith journey began in church. I rode that horse for 20 years, then retired. Still active at church -- and yes, I'm still an ordained Christian Minister.
I want to bless and encourage Gnomeanism! I don't have to drop my faith to appreciate the absurdity of it. You may never build a cult more cultish than many Christian denominations.
Jesus is good. Jesus is simple. Jesus battled the abuse and cultification of Judaism. I wish he'd come back and clean it up in the church! He laughed at prejudice and the seriousness of religious leaders. Your path is not well-worn, but it has been taken before. It's closer to the "straight and narrow" path than the roads taken by many traditional churches.
I am a Christian who believes Jesus is a better withness to God than any of his followers. I think that Gnomean Faith is a way to challenge the same foolishness that Jesus faced, in a playful way.
Take a lesson from the Christian Church. The Gnomean Church is not a cult -- yet. Prayerfully, it never will be. Your humor is your shield against the fiery darts of your detractors (if any). Treasure faith and hope in your hearts. A faith is worthless without love.
If you promote peace and practice love, you are doing the Lord's work. Carry on, Gnomeans! You represent the best of spirituality even as the formal church loses it.
I'll spare you my name on the ordination list. I have my ordination, formal and endorsed, so I don't need another permit to please the state.. I will continue my ministries to the Christian churches. Prayerfully, I can instill a bit of that Gnomean spirit into the mix.
We are not a cult. We are serious spiritual seekers, finding the Creator in plants, animals, other humans. We seek the good in everyone, and pray we find it.
... and if you throw in a few saints, spirits, and mythical beings, who am I to cast stones.
