Mammoth Cave Kentucky

So this past weekend we decided we would go to Mammoth Cave National Park. They have lots of cool cave tours. One of which is called the Star Chamber Tour. It is a tour that is lit only by lanterns. No other light, except when the ranger guiding the tour is illuminating a point of interest. It is thirty dollars for the tour. It is a two mile trek, and worth it. Note that there are stairs down and up a couple of times, and the terrain is not always paved. The lantern tour had ten lanterns for the entire 40 person group. There were spots where I was walking in total darkness relying on my trust in the National Park service and my own sense of balance not to fall or walk of into oblivion.

SO at this point you may wonder what it has to do with gnomes... Well I was coincidentally wearing my spanking new "Not a Cult" T-Shirt.

The first picture I only kept because I think it is hysterical. I tried taking a selfie with only two people who were walking with lanterns for illumination. It looks more like a demon than a person.

Selfie by lantern light... if you are gonna fail, do it in a fun way. I am amused that "Not A Cult" is the only thing in focus... and therefore the picture was not deleted.

It was full light when we went in and twilight when we got back to the visitors center.

Really cool fog layer created by the cold air coming out of the cave

More of the fog.
