Mountain Gnome
G'Namaste from the Appalachian Mountains of WNC. I'm a beekeeping Gnome. I also co-own a bakery with my wife, but my contributions to the day to day functioning of our business are more of a mascot role since a surgery left me disabled and unable to return to work of any variety. Its ok though, i stay home now and look after the beehives as best i can and fill my time with arts and crafts such as building fairy houses for my daughter to place around our property, or painting gourds into colorful birdhouses to give or sell as opportunity presents itself,
I had no idea that i was going to find a community of people respecting nature, and celebrating the many differences that make life such an amazing thing when i first clicked on the link for the Church of Gnome. Honestly I'm not really sure what i expected to find other than a possible smile and a chuckle or two. This however is marvelous!
Personally I myself lost any belief i may have once held of some sort of "divine, benevolent" being overlooking our lives. I realized that i didn't need the threat of eternal torment nor the promise of eternal riches to simply be a good person in the life i have right now, I strongly believe that we choose our own path and that path is dictated by how we choose to let ourselves interact with our world on a choice by choice basis. I for one have decided to enjoy the beauty of natures path and the wonders it has to offer. Its not easy! When i woke up partially paralyzed after a surgery i had in 2022 and had to relearn daily life i really struggled with choosing to be happy and there are days i still do. I guess I'm saying that I feel fortunate I've found a community of people who understand that there is something that connects us all and sometimes that something can be as simple as kindness, compassion, or the sharing of a laugh!
